Golden Dumbo (Pencil, Acrylic, on 5x5 inch Wooden Block)

This an image of Dumbo I created based on an image I had found on Pinterest by Bill Peet from Disney Productions (below). Doing it in gold colored pencil worked beautiful on the wood block, primed only with black acrylic. It has an inelegant chalkboard effect as well as inverting the dark and light which is super cute. #katelab #Design #Art #artist #acrylic #Drawing #painting #shop #Brushing #designer #instaart #instaartsy #instaartwork #instaartoftheday #instartys #instaartistic #Mother #elephant #Disney #pencil #mama #hiding #cute #Sweet
Here's the pain. It is rough getting that elephant cute. Trying to figure out what specifically about him is so darling. Big eyes, sweet cheeks, crazy big ears, and then the contrast of the big foot. Mine sort of looks like a brontosaurus but I don't mind (because I like dinosaurs).
The lesson? Shadow is important in this image and gold and black doesn't do it justice. Also, because the contrast is reversed you lose them big eyes.
Pencil on acrylic works awesome though.
