Self portrait of Moi (Pencil, Acrylic Ink, Acrylic, on 5x5 inch Wooden Block)

This is the first self-portrait I've done of myself in my current silver pencil on acrylic method. The red is a Speedball Super Pigmented Acrylic in Scarlet Red. The ink adheres very nicely to the black acrylic and dries true to color. I've been priming these wooden blocks with an inexpensive acrylic paint for kids (Sargent Art) which works very nicely. I don't mind using a lower quality for priming.

The wooden blocks don't love getting painted on but the wood grain creates an interesting texture that I really appreciate. I recently discovered that Hardboard Panels are a lot easier to paint on, and still have that chalkboard aesthetic that is really in right now.

This image is based on a selfie I took at my cousin's shower in which I wear a fascinator (image below)
Yeah, I am that pretty.
A fascinator is an abbreviated hat that is common among British fancy-pantses (Kate Middleton featured below) and at horse races. They are great additions to any outfit. And life is too short NOT to wear the hat.
Kate Middleton (Getty Images) popularized fascinators in 2013
but wear her hair down which is not typical.
