Because of my love for nighttime subjects, here is a neon sign for pie. I call it, "It Must Be A Sign" (Acrylic, Colored Pencil on 12" x 18" Board)

There were a lot of good lessons with this piece that I'm really excited about.
1. Pie.
First of all, if you ever mess up a piece of art, just do what I do. I start connecting lines, smudging colors, and drawing cherries. Make your crap into pie. You can quote me on it.

2. Scribbles come to life.
This pie outline is one I have been drawing for about a million years on tests and as scribbles. It's exciting that it's now officially in art form.

3. Neon
I'm really into night-time subjects and I've always had a thing for neon signs (see my Pinterest page on neon lights below) When I lived in France you would see the same crappy neon, but in FRENCH! It's a little bit of light and illustration in the dark. You will see a lot more neon coming from me but non-traditional subjects.

4. Hardboard
Hardboard is essentially the wooden back of clipboards (this is the only real world application I'm aware of). It's a dream to paint and draw on in ink and pencil. It has a clean finish without the "charming consistency" of splinters. It's also pretty cheap.

5. Size
Since I worked on "Breakfast for Dinner" all I can think is BIGGER, BIGGGGGEERRRR. All I want is to paint on material that is taller than me.  This hardboard doesn't quite suit the bill, but we'll get there.
